THE MISTLE-TONES fires up when singing hopeful Holly (Mowry) auditions to join her late mother’s legendary Christmas singing group. Shocked when the group’s current leader Marci (Spelling) turns her down, Holly sets out to create her own singing group. Enlisting an unlikely band of co-workers, including the bookishly adorkable Head of Human Resources, Bernie (Duffy), who brings her shockingly amazing voice to the team, as they battle it out at the annual Christmas Eve singing competition. Along the way, the group finds themselves on a journey to the real meaning of Christmas with some new friends and a new love thrown in for good measure.
To keep the tunes flowing all season, ABC Family pre-released an accompanying “The Mistle-Tones” movie soundtrack on November 18th, featuring nine songs from the movie sung by the cast.
Duffy felt lucky to be part of the project, explaining “The ‘Winter Wonderland’ scene where we perform at the mall was the first one I shot. My co-Mistle-Tones castmates Tia Mowry, Jason Rogel, Andy Gala and I could not stop laughing between takes. We sang old sitcom themes while running our choreography, took silly pictures, and Andy and I came up with like 12 different funny ways to kiss, which we do in the movie. At that moment, I just remember thinking, ‘I am so lucky…I have the best job ever!’ I think the energy among the cast and how much fun we had together really shine through in the movie. I was rooting for us!
Up next, Duffy is cast to star as a series regular in the new independent pilot “No-K Cupid,” which chronicles the online dating escapades of a group of twenty-somethings living in Silverlake.
A Chicago South Side native, Duffy’s love for performing started early, spending her childhood putting on musical puppet shows for friends and family. This led her to Northwestern University, where she graduated with a double major in Theatre and Sociology. Shortly after, Duffy made her way to Hollywood where she started working as a casting assistant while pursuing her acting career. It didn’t take long for the talented actress to be hand-picked for an on-camera role by Executive Producer Dean Devlin. Since then, she’s appeared on several television shows, including TNT’s “Leverage” and CBS’s “Criminal Minds,” along with numerous indie films.
Megan Duffy is represented by Ellis Talent Group.
