Oh Baby! Fitness, Northside Hospital Partner to Deliver the Most Comprehensive Perinatal Fitness Programs Available to Women

Pregnancy, mom & baby exercise varieties now a part of Northside's MothersFirst class offering

ATLANTA, Ga. - Oh Baby! Fitness, which offers the widest variety of pregnancy and mom & baby exercise classes in the country, and Northside Hospital, Georgia's leader in maternity and newborn services, have partnered to bring prenatal and postnatal exercise classes to women who choose Northside Hospital for their care.

"Educating childbearing women about maternity and newborn care is a cornerstone of Northside Hospital's commitment to women's health services," says Sharon Breunig, RN, MSN, operations coordinator for Northside Hospital's MothersFirst program. "We teamed with Oh Baby! Fitness to incorporate flexible exercise options and locations into the diverse class offerings of our MothersFirst education program. Now with more than two dozen education categories and 200 classes, Georgia women have the most comprehensive health resources available to them at Northside and in their local communities."

Oh Baby Fitness will lead all pregnancy and mom & baby fitness classes at various Northside-affiliated outpatient and medical centers, including the Northside/Alpharetta Medical Campus. Northside patients can also exercise closer to home by signing up for an Oh Baby! Fitness class offered at 30 other metro Atlanta locations. Every Oh Baby! Fitness class is lead by a certified prenatal/postnatal instructor who safely guides women to stay fit, bond with their babies and build a strong community of women to support one another during an important life milestone.

"Oh Baby! Fitness is excited to work with the Atlanta hospital that delivers more babies than any other single community hospital in the country," says Clare Schexnyder, founding mom and owner of Oh Baby! Fitness. "Northside Hospital continues to raise the bar for women's health education and care. Including our exercise class varieties into the hospital's MothersFirst education program gives Oh Baby! Fitness greater access to help shape the fitness health of more pregnant women and new moms in Georgia."

The MothersFirst program at Northside includes a new class category called "Pregnancy Exercise Classes" which offers pregnancy Pilates, yoga, water aerobics, as well as a combo toning and yoga class to pregnant women. A second new class category called "Mom & Baby Exercise Classes" includes mom & baby fitness, Pilates, yoga, water aerobics and stroller fitness to new moms and their babies.

Pregnant women and new moms can participate in pregnancy or mom & baby exercise classes during the day, evening and on weekends at Northside or at locations close to their homes. View all Northside Hospital MothersFirst education classes and locations at http://www2.northside.com/Classes/.

A note about exercising while pregnant: The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (http://www.acog.org) recommends 30 minutes of aerobic activity on most days of the week while pregnant. Exercise during pregnancy can help control weight gain, shorten labor, reduce the chance of a c-section birth and help relieve the common complaints of pregnancy (including back pain, leg cramps, swelling, constipation and insomnia).
